First Week of May

We are in the emerald-green time, with many tones of green in the landscape. It's the peak time for planting corn and soybeans in southern and western Minnesota. Many of us now welcome Baltimore orioles, rose-breasted grosbeaks, and ruby-throated hummingbirds back to our feeding stations. Greater prairie-chicken males dance in a lek in far western Becker County, and sharp-tailed grouse can be seen and heard displaying near Biwabik.

May 1, 2016 - Golfers at Superior National could look up and see skiers and boarders enjoying the last of the good snow on Lutsen Mountains.
