Welcome to a Nature Stroll!

All learning begins with using your five senses as you make observations about the world around you. Get ready to use these five special tools as you follow the Nature Stroll signs.

A Nature Stroll is a fun, educational activity that gives families and students a creative way to learn about nature while enjoying the outdoors.

Find a spot close by to sit down and close your eyes.
  • What do you feel?
  • Is it rough?
  • Is it smooth?
  • Is it hard?

Stop! Look around.
  • What colors do you see?
  • What shapes do you see?
  • What plants and animals do you see?

Close your eyes.
  • What do you hear?
  • Is it a nature-made sound or a human-made sound?

Take a big breath in through your nose.
  • What do you smell?
  • Does it smell good or yucky?

This one should do at home so you don’t taste something that could make you sick
  • What are some of your favorite foods to taste?

When you get home, draw or write about your observations. Be sure to include the location, weather, time of the day, and date.
