Polly retired from teaching after spending forty years in the classroom. Most of those years were spent teaching kindergarten, at Garlough Environmental Magnet School in West Saint Paul, ISD197. While at Garlough she was part of the core team that implemented the environmental magnet school philosophy. She has served on the board of the Minnesota Science Teachers Association, where she had the opportunity to plan and present workshops at the local, state, and national levels. In 2010 Polly received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching. She has worked for Jeffers Foundation since 2012. She feels it is a privilege to work with in-service and pre-service teachers across the state, encouraging them to take students outdoors to learn and to foster stewardship.
